| HAHAHAHHAHA I had so much fun yesterday. Go to this link: http://thunderbay.indymedia.org/print.php?id=1437 Unfortunately, I can;t link it for you because my FLIPPING COMPUTER is misbehaving. Ah well. We can;t always have what we want. I went out yesterday with my stepmom and stepsister and we had lunch at this nice place except my food wasn;t that great. The great part came afterwards.I went into this dress shop next door to the restaurant, and I was just screwing around, looking at dresses. And this woman who apparently owns the place came over and asked if I had anything special in mind. So I played along and tried on this fabulous beaded burgundy $800 dress, but alas, it was too small. But then she found this beautiful black dress - sheer-ish, low v-front, backless, slit just the right amount up the sides, with a little sheer wrap that went with it. I fell in love. Both her and this guy friend of hers that was in the store said I looked amazing, and (i hope this doesn't sound too conceited) I thought i did too. They asked what I was looking for a dress for, and I said the first thing that came to mind - prom. Even though I am a sophomore. And I am not going to get asked. But I played along with them. They asked who I was planning on going with and I responded, "Oh, just a friend." The guy said, "Well, he won't be just a friend after he sees you in that dress." I know this whole story sounds really shallow and stupid and idiot-like, but it really made me feel great about myself. Anyway, I obviosly couldn't buy the dress because it was 240$ and I don't need a dress anyway, but when I do need a dress, that's where I'm going to get mine. But what really struck me was this woman who runs the place. Her name is Barbara. She seemed genuinely nice - I know that people in the clothing business or in any business whatsoever only want to sell, but I could tell that this woman really cares about ehr customers and really wants to make everyone look beautiful. Plus, she offered me a job. And I would take it in a heartbeat, except I have to talk to her more in depth about hours and salary (probably pretty good as it's an expensive dress store) and to my dad about how I would get there. I don't know. I like to think that my first impressions of people are pretty trustworthy. So I'm going to CHelsea's house to hang out with her and Kelsey before we go out for dinner and meet everyone else for the movie - we're going to the last film night in the park, and we're seeing Monsters, Inc. I've seen it a hundred times but I still love it. I was going to have to watchi this interview and take notes on it and all that crap, but Marianne said she'd do it so I don't have to!!! About the dress issue: I really really want to get invited to prom during at least one of my three remaining years of high school (this year and junior and senior). I guess that's just my romantic imagination getting away with me again, but that would be really nice if that happened. *sends prayer to Prom God* *sends second prayer to Romance God* I am so pathetic sometimes. On the bright side, I went sort-of shopping yesterday, and I got an absolutely raunchy thong for Rachel for our panty exchange. Must remember to send on letter. I got some really nice underwear - I'm not going to go into detail though. Here's something random: Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can siltl raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Fcuknig amzanig huh? 1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why? Evanescence and the Beatles. I have practically grown up on the Beatles - their music is a part of me. And Evanescence? Their music just...speaks to me, I guess. Kinda cheesy, but it't true. Oh, and Alanis Morissette. She's amazing - Jagged Little Pill is almost constantly in my CD player. 2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why? That would have to be...Justin Timberlake. His voice annoys me. And all those little 12-year-old girl pop bands. They are children, and it just seems ridiculous to me that they are going out there, dressing all skanky and making the exact same kind of mucis that tons of other girlie pop bands are making. And they are 11 years old! It just gets to me, how our society exploits children. 3. If your favorite singer wasn't in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person? Probably. But considering I don't really know any of them personally, I can't really make that judgement. 4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show? I've only been to one concert - Jewel. I think it was....last September. Jason Mraz opened for her - it was a great show. He was incredibly energetic and she was cool, collected, and beautiful. I had a lot of fun. Plus i got a t-shirt. 5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music? My feelings about that issue are kind of mixed. On the one hand, the music industry is basically cheating consumers because it take about 15 cents to make a CD, ifnot less, and they make people pay 18$ for one. And it's a lot cheaper just to download music - free in fact. And most of my friends end up buying the CDs anyway after downloading a couple of songs. On the other hand, I do think it's wrong to basically steal from the musicians. But they get so much money anyway, why does it matter? And most of the money from CD sales goes to the producers anyway, so by downloading music, one isn't really cheating the artists. And I think it's kind of stupid for artists to say, "It's not about the money - it's about the music and my art," and then complain about people stealing their music. The media industry is so stupid. Ok, I have a riddle. If you're holding a b(e(e)) (it doesn't matter what kind of b it is - the letter or the insect or whatever), what's in your eye?
This stuff here is mine, unless otherwise stated. That's why it has my name on it. Thank you. |
